Joey King has never been one to play it safe with her hair, and her latest look is proof. At last night’s European premiere of Practical Magic 2 in London, the actress walked the carpet alongside costars Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and Maisie Williams, debuting a fresh set of curly, texture-forward bangs. Her longtime hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, calls the new fringe “Wicked Bangs”—and given the occasion, it couldn’t be more fitting.

The bangs weren’t the only showstopper. King paired the fringe with auburn, waist-length curls, the two textures working together for a look that felt equal parts polished and enchanted—exactly the vibe you’d expect from the movie’s press tour.

“I wanted to create ethereal, wispy, curly bangs for Joey. I named them the ‘Wicked Bangs’ because they feel a little witchy and with a lot of texture,” Giannetos tells NewBeauty. Considering King plays a member of the Owens coven in the film, the witchy branding feels less like a coincidence and more like a full-circle beauty moment.

How to Get the Look

The secret to King’s ethereal fringe is all about leaning into what her hair already wants to do. Giannetos enhanced her natural texture by working in a volumizing mousse, then diffused her hair using the TYMO Airhype Dryer ($200), which he says “protects the hair and is also so light to hold.”

From there, he reached for the TYMO Curlpro ($99) to create “undone curls in just a few seconds,” finishing the look with a spritz of dry shampoo and a few passes of a large paddle brush for a soft, lived-in finish.

The result? Untamed, effortlessly chic bangs that make you believe in a good hair spell.
